U.S. women lose to Netherlands in Grand Prix volleyball

The Netherlands beat the United States women's national Volleyball team, 25-18, 25-23, 11-25, 25-20, today on the final day of pool play in the FIVB World Grand Prix at the Macau Forum in Macau, China.

The Netherlands advanced to the finals, starting Aug. 22 at Ningbo, China, while the U.S. (5-4) awaits other tournament results to see if it would be included in the six-team field.

Tayyiba Haneef-Park had 19 kills to lead the United States. Former University of Hawai'i standout Heather Bown, a starting middle blocker, had eight kills, one block and one ace. Starting setter Robyn Ah Mow-Santos, another UH alum, had 56 assists, one kill and five digs for the U.S.
