Earthquakes keep Big Island rockin', rollin'

This past week was a busy one in terms of earthquakes of at least 1.7 in magnitude or greater on the Big Island.

There were 34 of them, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The smallest, a 1.7 magnitude temblor, occurred Monday, Aug. 13, about 15 miles east of Pahala.

The largest, assigned a magnitude of 5.4, took place Tuesday, Aug. 14, about 10 miles south-southeast of Hilo.

And the most recent, 2.1 in magnitude, happened Saturday, Aug. 18, about 2 miles northeast of Volcano.
