Michele Lau's new high-waisted skirts are stylish, comfortable and sophisticated. She's updated a vintage look with modern features like zippers, metal buttons and dark denim, and the pieces are as versatile as jeans. Dress them up for a cocktail party or go casual for a day of errands; either way, this skirt is a must-have.

Lau's design inspiration comes from her new home in Brooklyn, where she is interning for New York designer Phillip Lim and working on concepts for her line. She's been scouring New York's fabric district for unique cloths.

TWO-FACED EVENT WITH 2 BROTHERS

They were born in New Jersey, but watch how you pronounce their names — it's Ceschi, pictured, (pronounced chess-key, as in short for Francesco) and David (pronounced Da-VEED) Ramos. The multigenre, multitalented brothers are part of a half-dozen projects, including the band Toca, whose music can bring to mind everyone from The Monochrome Set to Tito Puente — all melded into their own singular song. The duo visits Honolulu on their own, for a two-night Wormwood event with two different sounds. Thursday the boys hit NextDoor with a hip-hop dance beat, then you can check them out at Anna Bannana's the next night for a 21st-century Buzzcocks sound.
