Hawaii Improv Festival begins Aug. 31 downtown

Improvaganza!, the second annual Hawai'i Improv Festival, will be held at 8 p.m. Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 at The ARTS at Marks Garage.

The best of the burgeoning local improv scene will be featured in the presentation by Smashbox Productions and On The Spot.

Award-winning stand-up comic Shawn Felipe hosts both nights.

On Aug. 31, Garrick Paikai offers his one-man tribute to the Bob Hope-Bing Crosby "Road" movies, with Loose Screws also featured.

The Sept. 1 bill features Mid-Pacific Institute's Owl-tastic group, the one-woman "troupe" Lone Wolfe and Company featuring Lizzie Wolfe and her imaginary friends, and On the Spot performers in an improv musical.

Tickets: $14 general, $10 students, available an hour before curtain.
