Construction worker killed at Honolulu Airport

A construction worker was killed today in an apparent industrial accident at the state's general aviation area off Lagoon Drive.

The employee of Jas. W. Glover Ltd. was run over by a roller while working on a taxiway repaving job, said state Department of Transportation spokesman Scott Ishikawa.

City Emergency Medical Services personnel responded at 1:06 p.m. and the worker, a male in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:20 p.m., said EMS spokesman Bryan Cheplic.

The state Occupational Safety & Health Division, the Transportation Department, police and Federal Aviation Administration are invoved in the investigation, said Ishikawa.

The medical examiner's office is not releasing the man's name until his identity is confirmed.
