Donations to Na Hale O Maui now tax deductible

The Maui News

WAILUKU — Na Hale O Maui, a community land trust dedicated to creating permanent affordable housing, recently was declared eligible to accept tax-deductible donations, The Maui News reported.

Na Hale was earlier accepting donations indirectly through Lokahi Pacific.

The organization also elected additional board members at its first membership meeting. They are: Regina Agcaoili, Thelma Akita-Kealoha and Cesar Gaxiola.

"In many ways, the first year is the hardest, but we've managed to create a locally based Maui organization, committed to making sure that we provide quality, affordable housing to homeowners and renters that will never go to market prices," said Tom Blackburn-Rodriguez, president of the land trust.
