NFL: Jaguars sign guard after Naeole, others injured

Advertiser Staff

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Guard Tutan Reyes signed today with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who added a veteran following three injuries on their offensive line. Reyes started six games last season for Buffalo.

The Jaguars also waived long snapper Brett Goode.

Starting right guard Chris Naeole has a sprained right knee, did not practice today and won't play in Thursday night's preseason game at Green Bay. Backup guard Stockar McDougle is out for the season with a torn Achilles' tendon. And center Brad Meester will miss at least the first three games of the season after breaking his right ankle.

Without Meester, the Jaguars moved backup guard Dennis Norman to center.

Reyes, a fifth-round draft pick in 2000 by New Orleans, played one game for the Saints in 2001 before being claimed off waivers by the Carolina Panthers.

He played four seasons in Carolina and started 28 games in 2004 and 2005. He signed a two-year deal with Buffalo before last season but was released in March after the Bills revamped their line.
