Downed poles knock out power in Wahiawa

Advertiser Staff

Hawaiian Electric Co. crews are repairing two downed utility poles and a transformer problem that knocked out power to 87 customers this afternoon in Wahiawa.

HECO spokesman Darren Pai said the outage is affecting customers on California, Kilani, Olive, Walker and Kuahiwi avenues as well as on Wilikina Drive, where the poles are down.

Honolulu police closed Wilikina Drive between Schofield Barracks' McComb and McNair gates at 4:14 p.m. to traffic in both directions but reopened it shortly after 5 p.m.

It was not immediately known what caused the poles to come down, Pai said.
