NFL: Dolphins to start Green at quarterback

By Armando Salguero
McClatchy Newspapers

MIAMI — Miami Dolphins coach Cam Cameron has named Trent Green the team's starting quarterback for the season, a move expected since June when the team acquired the veteran but one the coach did not actually make official until late last evening.

"Trent Green will be the quarterback," Cameron said before adding he told the quarterbacks of the rotation in a meeting.

Cleo Lemon, who had been competing with Green, is slated as the backup, and rookie John Beck is third-string. Gibran Hamdan is fourth-string for now, but the Dolphins may not keep four quarterbacks for the regular season.

Cameron said the primary reason he picked Green was his leadership ability.

"Cleo's time is coming," Cameron said. "He has a lot of room for growth, especially with his leadership."
