Punahou Babe Ruth falls, 7-3

Kelso (Wash.) scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning en route to a 7-3 victory over Punahou yesterday in the Babe Ruth World Series for 13- to 15-year-olds in Andalusia, Ala.

It was the second consecutive loss for Punahou, which fell to Texas, 3-2, Saturday.

Punahou scored in the top of the first on a Michael Suiter single.

Kelso tied it with a run in the bottom half.

Punahou recaptured the lead with a run in the top of the second, but Kelso pulled away to a 5-2 lead with its rally in the second.

Punahou closed to 5-3 with a run in the fourth, but Kelso scored two in the fifth.

Punahou is 1-2 in the tournament and will next play Mobile, Ala., tomorrow.

The top three teams in the five-team pool will advance to a playoff.

Punahou is in the American Division with teams from Maine, Texas, Washington and Alabama.
