Horizon, Matson cited for being among best ocean carriers

Horizon Lines and Matson Navigation Co. have been honored as the two top Quest for Quality recipients in the ocean carrier category by Logistics Management's magazine.Horizon, the No. 2 carrier of ocean cargo between the Mainland and Hawai'i, was the top-scoring ocean freight shipping line with a score of 36.07. It had the highest scores in terms of on-time performance, information technology, customer service and equipment among the 16 ocean carriers getting the award.
Matson Navigation, the No. 1 shipper to Hawai'i, placed second to Horizon with a score of 34.24.
It ranked highly in on-time performance, equipment and operations, as well as information technology.
"The Quest for Quality award is one of the most comprehensive customer satisfaction surveys in the industry," said Dave Hoppes, Matson senior vice president, ocean services, in a statement released to the media.
"We're very gratified to once again receive such high marks in this nationwide survey.
