UH regents council to hold 5 meetings this week

The University of Hawai'i's Board of Regents Advisory Council will hold a series of public meetings this week on proposed rules and procedures for nominating candidates to the boards.

The first of five meeting is set for 5:30 to 7:30 this evening at Kapi'olani Community College, Ohia Room 118, 4303 Diamond Head Road, Honolulu.

Additional meetings will be held from:

  • 5 to 7 p.m. tomorrow at Maui Community College, Laulima Room 105, 310 W. Kaahumanu Ave., Kahului.

  • 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Kaua'i Community College, Tech 114, 3-1901 Kaumuali'i Highway, Lihu'e.

  • 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the ILWU Local 142 Hawaii Division Meeting Hall, 100 W. Lanikaula, Hilo.

  • 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Kealakehe High School cafeteria, 74-5000 Puohulihuli, Kona.

    The council is responsible for compiling a list of qualified candidates and presenting it to the governor, who will nominate and appoint replacement members of the Board of Regents, with the consent of the state Senate.

    The first step in the process is establishing the guidelines by which Board of Regents members can be nominated. Draft documents prepared by the council are available at www.hawaii.edu/rcac or by calling 808-696-1218.
