Downed poles close section of Diamond Head Road

Advertiser Staff

Police today closed a section of Diamond Head Road between 18th and 22nd avenues to traffic in both directions due to two downed utility poles.

The roadway, which was shut down at 3:45 p.m., is expected to be closed for four to five hours, police said.

The poles were damaged in a traffic accident in which no serious injuries were reported, police said.

Both are Hawaiian Telcom poles and company spokeswoman Ann Nishida said there are no outages. Repair crews are on scene to replace both poles, she said.

Traffic is being rerouted from 18th Avenue to Kilauea Avenue to 22nd Avenue.
