Elder statesman of New Zealand arts coming here

Award-winning artist Fatu Feu'u, considered the elder statesman of Pacific Island art in New Zealand, will be exhibit his work and give a free lecture in October at the University of Hawaii, Manoa.Feu'u will be a UH artist in residence Oct. 21-31. His work will be on exhibit beginning Oct. 14 at the Art Building Commons Gallery. A reception will be held that day from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Feu'u also will give a free public lecture at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 16 in the Art Building auditorium.
Frigate birds, canoes, masks flowers and migration are common in his art.
