Registration now open for 'It's All About Kids' tutoring

Advertiser Staff

Eligible students can now register for free federally funded tutoring for the 2007-2008 school year.

Registration applications are available at eligible public schools throughout the state and students can register now.

Under the No Child Left Behind Act, economically disadvantaged families whose children attend schools that have been identified as being "in need of improvement in Year 2" have the right to select a state-approved Supplemental Educational Service provider to deliver free federally funded academic tutoring services to their children.

For the 2007-2008 school year, more than $5 million in federal funds can be allocated to provide these services for 86 eligible schools in Hawai'i.

"It's All About Kids" is a state-approved Supplemental Educational Service provider serving students from kindergarten through 12th grade. In addition, It's All About Kids (IAAK) will offer unlimited access to its software and rewards program to all students that complete their tutoring sessions with a coach.

Each IAAK student takes a pre-test so that an individualized learning path can be created that will focus on the key areas of remediation for that specific student. IAAK's software provides the student with interactive computer-based instructional activities that motivate them to learn while having fun. The curriculum is directly correlated to the Hawaii Content and Performance Standards and the National Assessment of Educational Progress standards. IAAK provides an on-site coaching staff that assists the students with off-line activities to reinforce core areas.

For additional information, contact school officials, or call It's All About Kids at 487-KIDS (5437), Their Web site is www.smartkidshawaii.com. Exact registration deadlines vary by district.

It's All About Kids is a Hawai'i-based company that provides after-school, weekend, and summer tutoring programs to eligible students at all eligible elementary, intermediate and public high schools statewide, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hawai'i and other community centers thought the islands.
