  • Constituted Feb. 3, 1944, as the 44th Signal Construction Battalion.

  • Redesignated April 14, 1944, as the 44th Signal Light Construction Battalion and activated at Camp Forrest, Tenn.

  • Reorganized and redesignated June 26, 1944, as the 44th Signal Heavy Construction Battalion.

  • Inactivated April 6, 1946, in Japan.

  • Redesignated Aug. 1, 1966, as the 44th Signal Battalion, allotted to the regular Army and activated in Vietnam.

  • Inactivated March 1, 1970, in Vietnam.

  • Activated March 17, 1972, in Vietnam.

  • Inactivated June 3, 1972, in Oakland, Calif.

  • Activated March 16, 1981, in Germany.
