The meeting is from 5 to 7 p.m. at Maui Community College, Laulima Room 105, 310 W. Kaahumanu Ave., Kahului.

Other meetings this week:

  • 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Kaua'i Community College, Tech 114, 3-1901 Kaumuali'i Highway, Lihu'e.

  • 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the ILWU Local 142 Hawaii Division Meeting Hall, 100 W. Lanikaula, Hilo.

  • 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Kealakehe High School cafeteria, 74-5000 Puohulihuli, Kona.

The council is responsible for compiling a list of qualified candidates and presenting it to the governor, who will nominate and appoint replacement members of the Board of Regents, with the consent of the state Senate.

The first step in the process is establishing the guidelines by which Board of Regents members can be nominated. Draft documents prepared by the council are available at www.hawaii.edu/rcac or by calling 808-692-1218.
