Schofield Barracks issues statement on Iraq crash

Col. Timothy M. Ryan, rear detachment commander of the Army's 25th Infantry Division, issued this statement on the fatal helicopter accident:"Yesterday, we learned of the tragic crash of a UH-60 helicopter in Iraq.
"Sadly, the incident resulted in the deaths of 14 soldiers, including ten 25th Infantry Division soldiers from Schofield Barracks. At this time, the exact cause of the incident remains under investigation.
"On behalf of not only the Schofield Barracks community but of the entire 25th Infantry Division, our thoughts, prayers and most sincere condolences go out to the families and loved ones of these American heroes.
"These soldiers will not be forgotten, but rather, their memory will live on as a reminder to all of those who continue to serve in harm's way, not only in Iraq, but also in several hot spots around the world.
"As we mourn their loss of life and injury, we give thanks in appreciation for their ultimate sacrifice and selfless duty to our Army and our nation."
