National Geographic show spotlights Hawaii's jellyfish
Advertiser Staff
Hawai'i's box jellyfish will be featured in a National Geographic Channel show airing this month."Explorer," which looks at jellyfish around the world, will air at 10 this morning and at 9 a.m. on Aug. 29.
In February a crew filmed the lab and ocean collection of Angel Yanagihara, box jellyfish expert and assistant research professor with the Pacific Biosciences Research Center at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa.
This is the first time a national network has visited her lab, she said.
Yanagihara said she suspects the rising number of jellyfish worldwide has prompted this national interest.
