A Corpus Christi, Texas, television station has identified one of the 14 soldiers who was killed in today's Black Hawk helicopter crash in northern Iraq as Garret McLeod of Rockport, Texas.

Army officials said the helicopter and its flight crew were deployed to Iraq from Fort Lewis, Wash.

According to Channel 6 TV News in Corpus Christi, McLeod graduated from Rockport-Fulton High School in 2002. He and his family were also very involved in the First Baptist Church in Rockport. He was a member of the Army and trained at Fort Benning, Ga., before serving in Iraq.

The report, on the station's Web site, did not say where McLeod was stationed.

According to the military, two Black Hawk helicopters were flying missions in Northern Iraq today when one of them went down, killing 10 soldiers on board including McLeod, along with four crew members.
