Mokuleia brushfire has burned 20 acres

Firefighters today are battling a brushfire on the Hale'iwa side of Camp Erdman in Mokuleia that has burned about 20 acres but is posing no threat to property.

The firefight started at about 2 p.m., according to Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig.

The department has its helicopter, three engine and three tanker companies, and a brush truck at scene, said Seelig.

Companies plan to remain on site overnight to monitor the situation, said Seelig.

Firefighters declared a brushfire off Goodale Avenue near the old sugar mill in Waialua contained at 3:21 p.m. That fire started at 2:42 p.m.
