Niketown 5K Sept. 23; Running Club launches Sept. 8

Hawai'i's young athletes training for the Niketown 5K for Kids are invited to Niketown in Waikiki to join the free Running Club for Kids. There will be specialized running instruction just for kids provided by Niketown staff running specialists. In addition there will be post-run activities, treats and free training logs for all participants.

The classes will be held at Niketown in Waikiki, on Saturday, September 8, 15 and 22, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Keiki under 18 need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian to walk or run 1 or three miles with NIKETOWN Running Club Leaders and will need to sign the Running Club waiver form.

The 8th annual Niketown 5K for Kids run will be held on Sunday, Sept. 23. 100 percent of the entry fee will be donated to an Oahu school PE, play and athletic program of each entrant's choice. This provides students and their families the opportunity to raise funds for physical education and playground equipment for their schools.

The registration deadline is Sept. 10. Fees: $20 (includes $15 registration fee and $5 tee shirt fee). The race is limited to the first 8,000 entrants. Any spots remaining after the September 10 registration deadline will be released at packet pick-up beginning on September 18 at 2:00 p.. at Niketown.
