These condolences for the families of soldiers killed were submitted to www.honoluluadvertiser.com:

This is a time to reflect and share the grief that these families are going through. Our community, military and civilian, should come together and show their support to these young men and women in the military and their families, by saying "I am here for you." They totally deserve the respect for giving up their lives for us to experience the freedom we have today.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and loved ones of the fallen. May God bless you. For the rest of the braddahs and sistahs still out fighting, keep your head up. We'll be with y'all there soon!

As a mother of a Schofield soldier, my heart aches for all these men and their families. I have prayed all day that these families will find comfort and peace in God's love for them. May all the soldiers of Schofield and Fort Lewis be lifted in prayer during this time of shock and loss. Our hearts go out to you from all across this nation. May God bless these men and bring them eternal peace.

To the family and friends who have lost a loved one defending our freedom, the very freedom we can be thankful for as we are free to sit here at our computer and type this message: May God bless you for all of your sacrifices, especially the biggest you have made today. Only the Lord Jesus Christ can comfort you in this time of pain.

My condolences to the families and loved ones. We thank you for all your sacrifices. May the Lord be with you always. Let us not forget those who perish before us for they are our true heroes. God bless to all of you still there protecting our freedom. I'm still awaiting my husband's homecoming, too. Please keep praying for their safety so that they will be with us soon.

I wish there were words that could comfort the families of the fallen soldiers, but I'm afraid there are not. My deepest condolences to the families of these brave men who gave their lives for their country. For those who are from other states, the people from Hawai'i feel as though we have lost our own as well. I pray that you each receive the strength and courage that only God can provide to help you through these terrible times. God bless America, and especially those who fight for her.
