'Land Has Eyes' showcased at UH on Sunday

Advertiser Staff

Filmmakers Vilsoni and Jeannette Paulson Hereniko will introduce their award-winning 2005 feature, "The Land Has Eyes," at a screening at 5 p.m. Sunday at Spalding Auditorium at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa campus.

The showing is part of the Hawai'i Filmmaker's Showcase.

Hereniko, a Pacific studies professor at UH, went to the remote Fijian island of Rotuma, where he was raised, to shoot a story of a young South Pacific Islander who redeems her family's name by exposing the secrets of the island's most powerful and important people, in a touching tale of conformity vs. personal freedom. The music of Audy Kimura is featured.

Tickets are $5 general, $3 for UH students and faculty.
