Hawai'i Red Cross volunteers headed to Oklahoma

Advertiser Staff

Two volunteers from the Hawai'i chapter are deploying to Oklahoma to join the American Red Cross relief effort in response to the devastating floods.

Rain storms, including remnants of Tropical Storm Erin, have caused persistent flooding throughout parts of the Midwest and southern U.S., damaging thousands of homes and businesses, and claiming at least 20 lives.

Denn Ko, a registered nurse and Red Cross volunteer from Wailuku, Maui, will serve as a health services worker on the relief operation.

Doris Wolfe, a volunteer from 'Aiea, will support flood victims as a disaster mental health counselor.

Community members interested in becoming local or national disaster volunteers should contact their nearest Red Cross office. All Red Cross disaster training is open to the public and offered at no cost.
