Fight ends Campbell-Aiea football game

Advertiser Staff

A fight that cleared both benches ended the 'Aiea-Campbell football game tonight at 'Aiea High School.

In the fourth quarter, 'Aiea ran a play and when it ended with 57.3 seconds remaining, punches were thrown. Both benches cleared afterwards and the game was suspended.

'Aiea, ranked eighth, led 33-26 at the time of the incident.

Since players from both teams left their benches, all were automatically ejected. The matter will taken up by the O'ahu Interscholastic Association, which will decide the final result of the game.

Players could also be ineligible for their teams' next games. 'Aiea's next game is Friday at home against top-ranked Saint Louis. Campbell's next game is on Saturday at No. 6 Kamehameha.
