Wie shoots 75, misses cut at LPGA's Safeway Classic

Advertiser Staff and News Services

Honolulu's Michelle Wie shot a 3-over-par 75 in the second round of the Safeway Classic today and missed the cut with a 10-over 154.

The projected cut was 4-over-par. Lorena Ochoa leads at 133 after a 66 today.

Starting on the back nine, Wie, a 17-year-old Punahou graduate, birdied the par-5 10th hole, but bogeyed Nos. 11, 14 and 18 to make the turn at 2-over.

Wie double-bogeyed the par-4 No. 3, but eagled the par-5 No. 7 to get back to 2-over. She finished with a bogey on the par-4 No. 9.

Wie has missed the cut in four LPGA events this year and withdrew from two others. Her best finish was 69th at last month's Evian Masters in France.
