The Hawaii Superferry has sold out of promotional $5 one-way tickets for its inaugural voyage to Maui tomorrow, company officials said.

"The response has just been tremendous," Hawaii Superferry director of business development Terry O'Halloran said today from the Big Island.

As of 3 p.m., here are the trips that are sold out:

  • Tomorrow: O'ahu to Maui, Maui to O'ahu, O'ahu to Kaua'i

  • Monday: O'ahu to Maui

  • Tuesday: O'ahu to Maui

  • Wednesday: O'ahu to Maui, Maui to O'ahu (vehicles sold out, only passenger bookings available)

  • Thursday: O'ahu to Maui, Maui to O'ahu (vehicles sold out only)

  • Friday: O'ahu to Maui, Maui to O'ahu (vehicles sold out only); O'ahu to Kaua'i, Kaua'i to O'ahu (vehicles sold out only)

  • Sept. 1: All voyages sold out

  • Sept. 2: All voyages sold out

  • Sept. 3: All voyages sold out

  • Sept. 4: O'ahu to Maui, Maui to O'ahu

  • Sept. 5: Maui to O'ahu (vehicles sold out)

The discounted tickets, which also allow passengers to bring a car aboard for an additional $5, went on sale at 6:30 a.m. today.

The special fare applies for one-way trips through Sept. 5.

Superferry officials announced the special fares yesterday, and also said the service would launch two days ahead of schedule. The news came in response to a legal setback for the Superferry on Thursday.

The state Supreme Court ruled the company should conduct an environmental assessment, but failed to outline whether the assessment could be done while ferry service is operating.

Environmentalists who pushed for the review will ask for an injunction against the ferry Monday, which if approved could postpone the service for months.

The Superferry said it would sell 500, $5 one-way fares for each inter-island voyage through Sept. 5.

About 150 cars will be allowed on each cruise.
