Heavy rain possible for Kauai, Oahu today

An upper level low-pressure system north of Kauai has made the atmosphere unstable and caused the winds to shift to the southeast and weaken, according to the National Weather Service forecast for Hawai'i.With the instability and light southeast flow, heavy showers are possible today on Kaua'i and O'ahu, forecasters said.
The low pressure system is expected to move far enough to the northwest by Monday to bring more stable conditions to the islands and end the threat of heavy showers. A surface ridge will slowly build north of the islands during the new week.
Light winds are expected to return on Monday and build to moderate strength later in the week.
