HVCB to offer planning guides in 4 Asian languages

Advertiser Staff

The Hawai'i Visitors and Convention Bureau is trying to make it easier for meeting planners to market the islands with planning guides translated into four Asian languages.

"These new tools will give planners even more reason to sell Hawai'i and have their clients take advantage of the increased productivity and rejuvenating benefits that come with meeting in the islands," said Michael Murray, vice president of sales and marketing for corporate meetings and incentives.

The bureau recently unveiled a new Hawai'i Meeting Planner Guide that serves as a one-stop shopping tool for the booking of meetings and corporate events. To make it more convenient for planners, the guide can also be viewed online at the website www.MeetHawaii.com.

The new guide have been translated into Japanese, Korean, Chinese traditional script for Taiwan, and Chinese simplified characters for China. The foreign language guides will be introduced later this year.

Each guide is being customized to address planners' needs in these Asia markets, and will highlight resort accommodations, meeting facilities, services, attractions, transportation and entertainment offerings statewide. Also included will be information pertinent to each market about visa, customs, and shipping policies for Hawaii.

Other new Hawaii sales tools being introduced for use by meeting planners in both English and the four Asian languages include a destination business video, PowerPoint presentation, press kit, and electronic postcards to help build attendance.

The new www.BusinessAloha.com website portal will be translated into the four Asian languages by the end of this year.
