Second McCully robbery suspect charged

Advertiser Staff

A fugitive wanted on three warrants totaling $33,000 was charged today with Saturday's robbery of a delivery man in McCully.

Joseph K. Austin, 30, who has no permanent local address, was charged with two counts of second-degree robbery and unauthorized possession of personal confidential information. He is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail pending an initial appearance tomorrow at District Court.

Prosecutors yesterday charged Gerald Lewis Austin, also 30, with two counts of second-degree robbery. It is unknown if the Austins are related.

Joseph Austin was arrested today at 7:05 a.m. at Ala Wai and Ala Moana after being identified as a suspect in the robbery. He was initially arrested on the outstanding warrants and for open lewdness.

Joseph Austin has 15 prior criminal convictions.

The Austins are accused of robbing the delivery man of his car keys and cash Saturday night from a McCully restaurant.
