Tahiti film fest looking for Pacific submissions

The Pacific International Documentary Film Festival, to be held in Papéete, Tahiti, from Jan. 29 to Feb. 3, 2008, is looking for documentaries related to the Pacific.Films will be judged by an international jury of film and television professionals.
Winning films receive cash prizes (last year's jury grand prize winner received 4,200 Euros).
The festival, in its fifth year, "aims to become the most important documentary film event in the Pacific region."
President of the jury is Laure Adler, the French writer and director of the publishing house Editions de Seuil. Also on the jury so far is Geoffrey Daniels of National Geographic International Channels and David Jowsey, commissioning editor of ABC documentaries, among others.
Last year's jury grand prize went to the New Zealand film "Made in Taiwan," directed by Dan Salmon.
The New Caledonian film "Tjibaou, le pardon," by Gilles Dagneau, took the Jury Special Prize ( and 2,500 Euros). by Georges Andews Production, with an amount of 2,500 Euros.
The deadline for submissions is Oct. 15, and there is no submission fee.
