Advertiser Staff

A 33-year-old man was critically injured early today in a motorcycle crash on Maui's Honoapi'ilani Highway, one-tenth mile south of Honoapi'ilani Road.

The man's injuries are life threatening, according to police. He is at Maui Memorial Medical Center.

Police said the man was operating a 2006 Honda dirt bike against on-coming traffic on the southbound shoulder of the roadway when he lost control of the motorcycle and collided into a guardrail at 12:40 a.m.

Both he and his female passenger were thrown from the dirt bike, according to police.

The woman was treated for non-life threatening injuries at Maui Memorial hospital, police said.
