Waianae man held in attempted-murder investigation

A 43-year-old Wai'anae man arrested on suspicion of stabbing his wife was being held tonight at the main police station cellblock pending charges.

The 6-foot, 325-pound man was booked for investigation of attempted second-degree murder and violating a temporary restraining order.

He was arrested on Farrington Highway near Ho'okele Street in Ma'ili at 8:05 a.m.

The man's 38-year-old wife who was stabbed in the neck at 7:55 a.m. at her residence at 87-820 Farrington Hwy. and taken to The Queen's Medical Center, where she is in serious condition.

The woman had filed a temporary restraining order against her husband, a felon with seven prior convictions, who reportedly took an infant boy this morning from her apartment and then stabbed himself while walking down the highway.

The man released the infant unharmed and was taken into custody, police said.

He was treated for injuries at Hawai'i Medical Center-West and arrested.
