NFL: Houston places OT Spencer on PUP list

Advertiser Staff

HOUSTON — The Houston Texans released Patrick Pass and placed Charles Spencer on the physically unable to perform list today to get down to the NFL-mandated limit of 75 players.

Pass, a fullback, was signed a few days into camp after the Texans lost two players to injuries. He spent the first seven years of his career with the Patriots, appearing in 75 games with 11 starts.

Spencer, the 6-foot-4, 352-pound left tackle, hasn't played since breaking his leg in Week 2 of last season. By placing him on the physically unable to perform list instead of the injured reserve, he could still play this season.

"He's making some progress, doing some good things," coach Gary Kubiak said. "I think it's still a pretty long shot that he plays this year, but who knows. Let's see what happens."
