Session on bird rehabilitation Sept. 16 in Kaimuki

Advertiser Staff

Wild Bird Rehab Haven, a Hawai'i nonprofit agency dedicated to the care and release of orphaned and injured wild birds, will hold a free training seminar on Baby Bird Care and Basic Injury and Illness at the Regency Park Condos recreation room at 3138 Wai'alae Ave. from 2-4 p.m. Sept. 16. Experienced volunteer rehabilitators from Wild Bird Rehab Haven will provide instruction.

The seminars are open to the public and registration is required. Call 447-9274 or e-mail: wbrh@wildbirdrehabhaven.org to reserve a space.

"So many people find baby birds and no one knows what to do," says director Phoenix Morgaine.

"Ultimately our goal is to establish a rehabilitation center here on Oahu for the birds. Until that time we are asking caring members of our community to help us raise and release orphaned birds out of their homes and adopt non-releasable birds in need of a permanent home."

For information on volunteering, the seminars, making a donation, or advice on what to do with an ill or injured wild bird, call 447-9274, email wbrh@wildbirdrehabhaven.org or write to Wild Bird Rehab Haven, PO Box 11721, Honolulu, HI 96828-0721.
