Preps: Holy Names adds four former OIA hoopsters

Advertiser Staff

Holy Names University women's basketball coach Steve Spencer recently announced his roster additions for the 2007-08 season, which includes four incoming freshmen from Hawai'i.

Jamie-Leigh Ronolo (Moanalua), Danielle Lovell (Wai'anae) and Farrington graduates C'ani Kealoha and Janiene Sablan have signed letters of intent to play basketball for the NAIA college located in Oakland, Calif.

The four will join three other Hawai'i players already playing for Holy Names — Larisa Nakasone (Roosevelt '05), Chelsie Kadota (Roosevelt '05) and Mana Camara (Kalani '06).

"People ask why we have so many players from Hawai'i and my first answer is because they can play," Spencer said in a release. "Basketball in Hawai'i is huge, these players are skilled, tough and ready for the college game almost immediately."

The players will be back in Hawai'i for the holidays when Holy Names (16-15 last season) plays Eastern Oregon and Lee University (Tenn.) in the Hawaiian Holiday Classic scheduled for Dec. 29-30.
