$255K in road improvements slated near Hanauma Bay

Advertiser Staff

Gov. Linda Lingle released $255,000 yesterday for improvements to the Kalaniana'ole Highway intersection at Hanauma Bay. The project will consist of three major components: widening the highway and constructing a left-turn lane into Hanauma Bay; constructing an acceleration lane for vehicles exiting and traveling in the town-bound direction; and installing guardrails, signage and pavement striping.

The state highway revenue bond funds released by the governor will be matched four to one with $1,020,000 in federal funds.

Construction is scheduled to begin in January and be completed in March.
