Hawaii Pussycat Doll hosts Monkey Bar party Saturday

Advertiser Staff

Hawaii-born Pussycat Dolls vocalist Nicole Scherzinger will host this weekend's edition of The Monkey Bar nightclub party at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki.

The vocalist will be at the Saturday event to promote the upcoming release of her debut solo CD "Her Name Is Nicole," out Nov. 6 on Interscope Records. The Monkey Bar party will also feature a screening of the video for "Whatever U Like," the first single from Scherzinger's CD and a duet with rapper T.I.

Scherzinger, 29, was born in Honolulu, later moving with her mother to Louisville, Ky., after her parents separated.

Before joining The Pussycat Dolls, the singer-dancer-actress performed with the dance pop group Eden's Crush. The membership of that quartet was selected on The WB television network's 2001 reality series "Popstars."

She joined the Los Angeles-based modern burlesque troupe The Pussycat Dolls in 2003, when its founder sought to re-imagine it as a recording group with Scherzinger as its lead singer. The Pussycat Dolls' 2005 debut album "PCD" was a smash upon release, selling 2 million copies and spawning the hit singles "Don't Cha," "Buttons" and "Stickwitu."

Doors for The Monkey Bar will open at 9:30 p.m., Saturday. It is open to ages 21 and over only.

The Monkey Bar is a weekly nightclub party at the Hyatt's Ciao Mein restaurant and outdoor poolside bar co-promoted by Tantriq, Architechs and Vertical Junkies.
