Prosecutors tonight charged a Wai'anae man with attempted second-degree murder in connection with the alleged stabbing of his wife.

David Edward Tautua, 43, is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail pending an initial appearance tomorrow at District Court.

The 6-foot, 325-pound Tautua allegedly violated a temporary restraining order yesterday when he went to his wife's apartment on the 87-800 block of Farrington Highway and took an infant boy.

His wife, 38, was stabbed in the neck during a struggle. She was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in serious condition at 7:55 a.m.

According to Hawai'i Criminal Justice Data Center records, Tautua has seven prior convictions.
