Swell brings high-surf advisory for south-facing shores

Advertiser Staff

Waikiki and the rest of the south-facing shores should be flooded with surfers today, thanks to a swell that's been generated from a storm several days ago just east of New Zealand.

The National Weather Service said wave faces generated by the swell will peak sometime today at 6 feet to 8 feet. A high surf advisory was issued for for south-facing shores.

Enjoy it today, surfers, because the swell is expected to start decreasing tomorrow.

Elsewhere, surf along east-facing shores will be 3 feet to 5 feet today; surf along west-facing shores will be 4 feet to 6 feet and surf along north-facing shores will be 2 feet or less.

Another moderate south swell is expected to arrive early Friday, and continue through the weekend. That swell will slowly decline on Monday.
