Man, 26, in critical condition after hit by car in Kalihi

Advertiser Staff

A 26-year-old male has been taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition following a pedestrian accident at 1405 N. King St. near the Tamashiro Market in Kalihi.

The accident occurred at approximately 1:45 a.m. and temporarily shut down the west-bound lanes of King Street starting at Palama Street while the traffic division of the Honolulu Police Department investigated.

Police said the man was walking down the middle of the road when he was struck by a 2006 white BMW. Police said he was involved in a domestic dispute. The 40-year-old driver stopped after striking the man and immediately called police.

It is unknown at this time if alcohol played a factor, police said, but speed did not appear to be a factor.
