Soccer: U.S. eliminated from FIFA U-17 World Cup

CHEONAN, South Korea — Richard Sukuta-Pasu scored a pair of second-half goals, and Germany eliminated the United States from the FIFA Under-17 World Cup with a 2-1 victory today.

Sukuta-Pasu, who is with Bayer Leverkusen, scored in the 65th and 89th minutes, both times off assists from Toni Kroos. Mykell Bates scored the Americans' goal in the second minute of second-half injury time.

Argentina beat Costa Rica 2-0, Nigeria downed Colombia 2-1 and England defeated Syria 3-1.

Quarterfinal matchups have France playing Spain and Ghana meeting Peru on Saturday, and England facing Germany and Argentina playing Nigeria on Sunday.
