Fire burns 1.5 acres on vacant Kauai land

A fire broke out in Lawa'i last night that burned approximately 1.5 acres of brush and pine trees on vacant land about 1.5 miles mauka of the Kaumuali'i Highway and Piko Road intersection on Kaua'i.

No one was injured in the fire, but it came close to transmission lines located in the area.

Fourteen firefighters and a rescue specialist along with Air-1 responded to the 7:16 p.m. alarm.

The fire was deemed under control at 8:45 p.m. and fully extinguished at 11:34 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
