Hurricane Flossie boosted sales for Hawaii Cost-U-Less

Hurricane Flossie helped boost sales this month at Cost-U-Less Inc., a discount retailer with stores on the Big Island and Kaua'i.The Bellevue, Wash., chain of warehouse stores said stores open at least 13 months rose 7.2 percent this month compared to a year earlier. It said Flossie, along with Hurricane Dean in the Caribbean, boosted sales in Hawai'i and at two Virgin Island stores as people prepared for the storm. Cost-U-Less operates 11 stores and recently announced an agreement to be bought out by the North West Co., a Canadian retailer.
