Honolulu writer's conference set for Oct. 20

Twelve workshops on writing — from fiction to memoirs to poetry — will be the focus of the 13th Honolulu Writers Workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Neal Blaisdell Center.

Free manuscript critiques by literary agents and local book publishers also will be offered on a limited basis.

Among those giving workshops are: Ian MacMillan, winner of the O. Henry Award; Tammy Yee, author/illustrator; Roger Jellinek, founder of Hawai'i's only literary agency; and Margaret South, producer and screenwriter.
