Kauai police have five new lieutenants

The Kaua'i Police Department announced the promotions of Sherwin Kaleo Perez, Mark Begley, Michael Contrades, Eric Shibuya and Dan Miyamoto to the rank of lieutenant.Acting police chief Clayton Arinaga recognized the five for their outstanding work and commitment at a promotion ceremony Monday.
Perez, Shibuya and Miyamoto are all 20-plus-year Kaua'i police veterans while Begley and Contrades have been with the department for 16 and 13 years, respectively.
