East Honolulu is one of the testing grounds for a new Honolulu Police Department community Web site that lets residents check the locations and types of crimes that occur in their neighborhood by date.

Police Capt. Robert Green said this week at the Hawai'i Kai Neighborhood Board meeting that the area is the first in District 7 — the police area that spans from Makapu'u to Punahou — to learn about the new online system.

"Each neighborhood is broken down by streets," Green said. "We'll keep expanding the system."
