David Ishii isn't the only golfer in the family who will play on the Champions Tour this year.

Kamehameha Schools senior TJ Kua, Ishii's nephew, will partner with Honolulu's Dave Eichelberger in this week's Wal-Mart First Tee Open at Pebble Beach. The Champions Tour event is tomorrow to Sunday and will be televised on The Golf Channel.

The tournament pairs 78 junior golfers with 78 professionals and 156 amateurs. Hawai'i was given a sponsor's exemption by the Monterey Peninsula Foundation and Kua, 17, earned it based on his play in Hawai'i State Junior Golf Association tournaments.

He has also finished second twice at the state high school championship and helped the Warriors to the last team title.

Eichelberger and Kua tee off at Pebble Beach tomorrow at 10:55 a.m. HST, and Saturday at Del Monte at 6:25 a.m. HST. The pros and top 22 juniors play Sunday at Pebble Beach, with the remaining juniors and all the amateurs at Del Monte.

Format is gross best ball for the pro-junior team.

PATRIOT GOLF DAY

The inaugural Patriot Golf Day, a joint initiative of the PGA of America and U.S. Golf Association, will be Saturday.
