Dixie Grill Aiea Bar-b-que Fest starts Sept. 13

Dixie Grill holds its annual Bar-b-que Fest Sept. 13 to 30. Owner Ed Wary invites diners to "put some South in your mouth."

The menu includes Dixie favorites such as southern fried dill pickles and Texas Hold-Ums mini beef burgers, along with specials like Cajun Creole grilled shrimp roll with smashed potato salad ($8.50); bar-b-que beef short ribs with Mardi Gras veggies, roasted red mashers and Ravenswood Zinfandel bar-b-que sauce" ($17); and grilled Cajun mahimahi and asparagus ($16).

In addition to the Bar-b-que Fest menu are daily specials, served from 4 p.m.:

Mondays: Bar-b-que based meat loaf topped with onion strings, served with roasted red mashers and corn on the cob

Tuesdays: Pulled Ham Po' Boy with au jus ($9.50)

Wednesdays: Grilled chicken and sausage kabobs ($14)

Thursdays: Roasted chicken salad Po' Boy with fries ($11)

Fridays: Savannah smokey wild American shrimp and steamed crab combo with grits ($23).

On the weekends from 3 p.m., the smoker grill will be on the restaurant's lanai, serving up slow roasted pork topped with Southern gravy ($14).
